New Discovery built Johnson & Johnson a procedure-training system for a moment when the in-person formats the company normally relied on were hard to sustain.

The training ran on augmented and virtual reality, but that is not what made it work. What made it work was that it held training quality steady under pressure: personnel could learn procedures more safely and more consistently than the circumstances would otherwise have allowed. The [original account of the project](https://newdiscovery.agency/johnson-and-johnson-promote-virtual-reality-training/) is still on the agency's own site.

## The point was never the headset. It was _safer, more scalable procedure training._

The work answered a training problem: how to help teams understand procedures clearly without depending on the same degree of physical presence at every step. In a regulated healthcare setting, clarity, repetition and confidence are not optional, and this was an early demonstration that immersive systems could carry them.

## Immersive systems earn their place when they _let a team practise before the mistake happens._

The project sits on the same continuum as the industrial and institutional deployments that followed. Reduce friction, improve consistency, and let people rehearse before it counts on the floor or in the procedure — that is the argument, and healthcare is where it was first made concrete.

The rest of the proof.
