Athena arrived at us as a proposal for a mobile app for a project in Austin, Tx. Our client was looking to explain chemical experiments in an interactive and fun way that supports a dynamic learning process.
Approach
As New Discovery Agency, we leaned towards one of our three business units; New Discovery – Tech. The pre-app demo completed was made with a chemical experiments catalog. The idea is based not only on covering chemistry topics but also on math, physics, and more. New Discovery – Tech team input was to develop an Unreal Engine app with three demo experiments, in which the app capacities and approaches were tested and demonstrated, for example, 3D graphics, particles, interaction with the mobile gyroscope (turn the cellphone around to perform actions), the use of a mobile accelerometer (shake the cell phone to mix things) among other tools.
The three demo experiments presented were:
- Alkali metals reacting with water.
- The blue bottle experiment
- Iodine clock reaction
Work
We delivered ATHENA with three interactive chemistry experiments, a configured menu to show varied experiments and sections catalog in the future, and a sign-in page as a mockup. The developed demo was for android and iOS versions with optimum results.
