Cultural managers from Juárez and El Paso spent two days together in August, and New Discovery taught one of the workshops: an artificial-intelligence lab for museums and cultural management.
The VI Encuentro Binacional de Museos y Centros Culturales ran on August 27 and 28, 2026, organised by the Red de Museos y Centros Culturales de Ciudad Juárez, as the Municipio de Juárez announced on August 25. Norte Digital reported that it was held under the theme Reuniendo fronteras, across the Centro Cultural Paso del Norte and the Centro Cultural de las Fronteras.
The network covers fourteen cultural spaces in the city. The Municipio put registrations at more than 180 people, with workshop places capped at 40 — which is the number that decides what kind of session a workshop can be.

The session was Laboratorio de Inteligencia Artificial para museos y gestión cultural, listed in the official programme on Thursday, August 27 at 16:30 at the Centro Cultural Paso del Norte.
It was one of four workshops that day. Norte Digital listed them by theme — artificial intelligence, telling a story through photographs, techniques for activating audiences, and building messages with inclusion — without naming who taught them.
Two days of keynotes, panels and visits on both sides of the border.
Thursday opened at 10 a.m. at the Teatro Octavio Trías with the keynote El museo para sanar un mundo dividido, by the artist and cultural promoter Othón Téllez, followed at midday by the historian Carmen Cuenca with Las reglas del juego. The workshops ran that afternoon, and the day closed with a guided visit to the Museo de las Identidades Juarenses.
Friday moved to the Centro Cultural de las Fronteras, with a tour of Mago Gándara's murals and her studio, a networking session and a closing reception. UACJ reported on the opening, where the university's Centro Cultural de las Fronteras, the Chihuahua state culture office and the network's coordination all spoke. Norte Digital also reported that Ciudad Juárez was chosen to host the Festival de los Museos Nacionales in 2027.
Teaching the tools instead of selling them.
Teaching AI to a room of cultural managers is the same practice New Discovery runs with schools and companies in the AI Fluency Program, an Innovation engagement built around teaching people to use the tools rather than buying more of them.
The museum side has its own precedent: Juárez Aumentada used augmented reality to open up the city's monuments and historic centres, which is the same audience this workshop was written for.
The organisers' own programme puts the lab at 16:30 on the Thursday.

Three outlets covered the meeting, none of them named the presenters.
The Municipio de Juárez announced the meeting on August 25, 2026 under the headline “Anuncian el VI Encuentro Binacional de Museos y Centros Culturales”. Norte Digital had previewed it on August 20 as “Realizarán Sexto Encuentro de Museos y Centros Culturales”, and UACJ Comunicación Universitaria reported the opening on August 27 as “Inauguran el sexto Encuentro Binacional de Museos y Centros Culturales”.
None of the three names the workshop presenters. The day, the time and the title of our session come from the event's official programme, not from the press.
