On Saturday, September 8, 2018, New Discovery Media's 360° music experiences were part of ArtsLaunch at the Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami, brought in by FilmGate Miami.
ArtsLaunch is how South Florida opens its arts season: a free twelve-hour day, ten in the morning to ten at night, with more than a hundred arts and cultural organisations showing what their year will hold. It was the Arsht Center's fourth consecutive edition.
What the company took was a headset and a piece of music. The audience that mattered turned out to be the children, who queued up and stayed in — and the point of a festival stand is exactly that: a format either holds a distracted eleven-year-old in a building full of competing attractions, or it does not. Diliana Alexander and Jose Jacho of FilmGate Miami are the ones who made the space available.
This was the Miami stretch of the company's history, between the Startup Nation Conference in February and the WIN Lab accelerator eleven days later, when immersive production and film work were running side by side. The following year the film side produced Malabar, also with FilmGate.
