El Diario on why Jonalex Herrera stayed in Juárez

The piece treats Juárez as a place he chose and stayed in rather than as a backdrop to the company. El Diario published it on 4 July 2023, and it remains one of the clearest local records of Herrera as a Juárez-based creative and business leader.

The piece is bigger than one profile. "Hacen de Juárez su hogar" ran as El Diario's answer to the xenophobic reaction Venezuelan migrants were meeting in the city: a long look at people who had settled, built careers and stayed. Its page of "profesionistas exitosos" put Herrera, as a creative director, beside a vascular surgeon, a maxillofacial surgeon and an orthodontist — the argument being made through who these arrivals actually are.

It did not stay local. Agencia EFE put the story on the wire — "Venezolanos hallan éxito económico en la frontera norte de México en lugar de migrar a EE.UU." — and from there it ran in Telemundo across several US markets, Yahoo Noticias, López Dóriga, Primicias24, El Pitazo and a dozen smaller outlets. Noticias 26 El Paso shot its own segment on the same professionals.

That reach is the point worth recording. A local paper's answer to xenophobia became a wire story about the border economy, and the company's founder was one of the four people it used to make the case.

That framing is what makes the founder timeline legible. It explains why the agency's work keeps returning to the city and the Borderplex, and it gives a reader looking for Venezuelan entrepreneurs in Juárez, or cross-border creative leaders, an account with a person in it.
