Jonalex Herrera and Liz Pasillas were running New Discovery Media out of Miami in 2017, making branded content and music-driven films and starting to experiment with 360 video.
Herrera had reached Miami by way of Caracas, El Paso, Ciudad Juárez and New York, with a background in design, computer science, digital film and visual effects. Pasillas brought a Juárez business background and film production experience, and the profile ties her relationship-building directly to the company's growth. VoyageMIA published the interview in 2017, and it treats the two of them as partners running a company rather than a director with a supporting cast.
The client list they had built by then ran to Disney World, Target, FedEx Express, Vix and Avianca on the brand side, and David Bisbal, Ivy Queen, Jencarlos Canela, Paty Cantú and Juan Magán on the music side.
The studio was already turning film craft into commercial work, and commercial work into immersive experiments.
The interview records the turn from conventional production toward immersive and interactive work: early 360 pieces, recognition on YouTube, showcase slots in Miami, and a place in CREATE's third cohort, where the team developed Mersyv as a mobile virtual reality concept.
Those brand and music credits are the reason the turn held. The team had already learned to deliver inside commercial systems with deadlines and approvals, and carried that discipline into XR, training and civic technology.
The capability that shows up later in Juárez was built here first.
The production discipline and the founding partnership visible in this interview are the same ones that appear in El Diario's report on the move to Juárez, in Technology HUB's coverage of the Bridge Accelerator, and in the cultural work behind Ruta Norte and Juárez Aumentada.
