Grupo Cementos de Chihuahua ran its Semana de la Innovación from September 9 to 13, 2019, and on the Thursday evening it seated Liz Pasillas with Lourdes Tejada, Cristy Márquez and Diana Parada for a panel called "Talent Women in Innovation", at Technology HUB in Ciudad Juárez.

The session was organised through ADN Concreto Juárez, GCC's innovation arm, and ran alongside a HeForShe talk by Guillermo Asiain. Registration was free. GCC later published the panel on its own channel.

"Innovation and technology offer unprecedented opportunities to break trends and reach the people at most risk of being left behind," Pasillas wrote about it, framing the panel around UN Women's case for developing markets for innovations that advance gender equality.

What she brought was a track record, not a theory.

She had spent the previous two years in accelerators in Miami — CREATE at Miami Dade College and Babson's WIN Lab, a program built specifically for women founders — before the company moved back to Ciudad Juárez. GCC had both founders back the following year, for its 2020 innovation week.
